São Paulo to invest $US 10.8bn to expand urban rail and bus network

São Paulo Metro awards new Line 17 monorail systems contract
SÃO Paulo Metro has awarded BYD, China, a contract worth around Reais 1bn ($US 233.4m) to supply the systems and trains for Line 17/Gold, after the Signalling Consortium was disqualified for not meeting the tender’s technical and financial requirements.

SÃO Paulo Metro signed a Reais 494.8m ($US 119.7m) contract with Constran on January 13 for the resumption of civil works on the Line 17/Gold monorail project, with São Paulo Metro to define the schedule of the works with the company.

THE government of the Brazilian state of São Paulo announced on November 11 that it will evaluate a deal over the next 90 days whereby Acciona, Spain, will take over a public-private partnership (PPP) project to build Metro Line 6-Orange.
