Avanti West Coast launched in London

THE West Coast Partnership (WCP) of First Group and Trenitalia officially launched operation of Avanti services on Britain’s West Coast Main Line at an event held at London Euston station on December 9.

Hitachi awarded £350m Avanti West Coast fleet contract

FIRST Trenitalia, which will launch its Avanti West Coast franchise in Britain on December 8, has awarded Hitachi Rail a contract worth more than £350m to provide and maintain 23 200km/h inter-city trains, which will enter service from 2022.

FIRSTGROUP and Trenitalia, which won Britain’s West Coast Partnership franchise in August, will operate under the name Avanti West Coast when they take over from Virgin Trains on December 8.
