MINING company Rio Tinto has achieved the first delivery of iron ore by an autonomous, driverless train as part of its $US 940m AutoHaul programme focused on automating trains running to its port facilities in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

GERMAN Rail (DB), Siemens and the city of Hamburg have signed an agreement to develop a fully automated S-Bahn line in Hamburg by 2021, in time for the World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in October 2021.
