MUMBAI Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) signed a contract with Alstom on July 19 for 31 driverless trains for Mumbai metro Line 3.

MORE than 95% of Alstom’s shareholders voted in favour of the merger with Siemens Mobility at a special shareholders’ meeting which took place in Paris on July 17.

THE European Commission (EC) confirmed on July 13 that it has launched an “in-depth” investigation into the merger of Siemens mobility and Alstom amid concerns that the combination may adversely affect competition in the signalling and rolling stock markets.

ALSTOM’s Coradia iLint hydrogen fuel cell passenger train has been granted approval by the German Federal Railway Authority (EBA) for commercial operation in Germany.

ALSTOM has unveiled the first of 23 Citadis X05 LRVs which will run on the three lines in Caen, France. The LRVs were ordered in November 2016 with the first deliveries due in October 2018 and entry into commercial service scheduled for September 2019.

ALSTOM has been awarded a 15-year contract by Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) for the maintenance of rolling stock and signalling on the 36km Sydney Metro Northwest Line, which is currently under construction and due to open in the first half of 2019.

TAIPEI City Government’s Systemwide E&M Project Office (Sempo) has awarded Alstom and Taiwanese engineering and contracting services company CTCI a contract to supply an integrated metro system for Taipei metro Line 7 phase one. The total contract value is €378m, while Alstom’s share is worth close to €220m.

LAGOS Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (Lamata) has signed a letter of intent with Alstom regarding phases 1 and 2 of the Blue Line, which will be the first metro line in Lagos.

NICE Côte d'Azur Metropolis opened the 7km T2 Cadam - Magnan tram line on June 30, with Alstom inaugurating its first new-generation Citadis X05, equipped with a new SRS charging system, at the opening ceremony.

ALSTOM presented the first Prima T8 AZ8A electric freight locomotive for Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) on June 27 during an event at its site in Astana, Kazakhstan.
