THE passenger operating subsidiary of French National Railways (SNCF), SNCF Passenger, and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) have extended their contract covering the operation of high-speed services under the TGV Lyria brand between France and Switzerland.
The current commercial agreement running from 2023 to 2027 has been extended to 2032. With the objective of responding to growing demand for cross-border services, SNCF Passenger and SBB will examine the potential for new services from Switzerland to France and beyond, as well as extending existing services.
TGV Lyria services carried 5.7 million passengers in 2025, offering a total of 18,000 seats on 17 return services a day between France and Switzerland on three routes with the following end-to-end journey times:
- Paris - Geneva: 3h 11min
- Paris - Lausanne: 3h 41min, and
- Paris - Basle - Zürich 4h 4min.
During the summer holidays, a fourth service operates from Lausanne via Geneva to Marseille in the south of France. It will run from Thursday to Monday from April 16 to November 2 this year, and daily in July and August.
“This marks a new phase in the rollout of TGV Lyria,” says SNCF chairman and CEO, Jean Castex. “Introducing new services and destinations has always been at the heart of our partnership.”
