The project has also seen the stations at Rzeszotary, Raszówka, Gorzelin, and Chróstnik renovated.
Work on the 40km Lubin - Rudna Gwizdanów section has finished, while work on the 18km Lubin - Rudna Gwizdanów section is nearing completion.
The project included replacing the track and electrification system and installing a modern traffic control system. Facilities have also been rebuilt and level crossings modernised. A new 5m-high viaduct has also been built in Koźlice, removing a level crossing and increasing safety.
Final testing is currently underway, which will allow freight traffic to resume when completed.
The investment will increase capacity to allow more trains to operate and will improve services for passengers with limited mobility. It is hoped the extra capacity for freight will also result in a modal shift from road to rail. After the modernisation, passenger trains will operate at 120km/h and freight trains at 80km/h.
Following the introduction of the 2020 timetable on December 15, 19 passenger trains/day are scheduled on the Legnica - Rudna Gwizdanów line. There will also be six Legnica - Lubin services, eight Legnica - Głogów services, new direct services from Wrocław to Lubin and 12 from Lubin to Wrocław. There will also be five PKP Intercity services along the line.
The fastest journey time for the Legnica - Lubin section will be 13 minutes non-stop and 18 minutes with for stopping trains.
