COMFORTJET trains will be introduced on two daily Prague - Berlin services on September 29. The eight-car trains will temporarily be locomotive hauled and have a conventional dining.
Czech Railways (ČD) has ordered 20 push-pull trains powered by Vectron multi-system locomotives from a consortium of Siemens Mobility and Škoda.
The trains have a maximum speed of 230km/h and will reduce the Prague - Berlin journey time by up 18 minutes to achieve a trip time of 4h 18min.
The driving trailers have the same driver’s desk and train control system as the Vectron Multi-System locomotive at the other end of the train to simplify driver training and operation.
The service will eventually be extended north to Hamburg and could operate to Copenhagen in the future.
ČD also introduced a ComfortJet train on the Prague - Ostrava - Kosice line on September 23.
A ComfortJet was on show at InnoTrans in Berlin.
