INFRASTRUCTURE Ontario and Metrolinx have selected Trillium Rail Partners (TRP) to deliver the stations, rail and systems (SRS) package for the 9.2km Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) of the light rail network in Toronto.
The consortium comprises WSP Canada, Amico Major Projects, Alberici Constructors, and Acciona Infrastructure Canada. The consortium has signed a development and master construction agreement (DMCA) with Metrolinx, which marks the start of the development phase under a progressive design-build procurement model.
Under the DMCA, TRP will commence construction of early works and work with Metrolinx to further develop the design scope, risk allocation and pricing of project elements as part of the development phase. ECWE runs from Mount Dennis station, the western terminus of the Eglington Crosstown line, west to Renforth Drive, with 7.7km in tunnel, excavation of which is progressing.
The scope of work for the SRS package includes design and construction of seven stations and installation of rail and systems for the extension. It will also include work at the existing Mount Dennis station to connect the ECWE with future Line 5.
The overall Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project is being delivered through a combination of public-private partnership (PPP), progressive design-build and traditional procurement contracts.
