THE European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed a €10.6m loan to fund new LRVs for the Ukrainian city of Odessa. The deal is one of several signed by the bank in 2024 totalling €33.75m to improve public transport in the country.
Ukrainian rolling stock manufacturer Tatra-Yug has already supplied 13 K1T306 three-section LRVs to Odessa. The latest EIB loan will fund the cost of the next tranche of eight LRVs.
As part of a support programme for Ukraine that has provided over €2bn since 2022, EIB has previously funded LRVs for Lviv, produced by Ukrainian manufacturer Elektronmash, and for Kyiv, also supplied by Tatra-Yug.
EIB expects to provide funding for new LRVs for the Ukrainian cities of Dnipro and Kamianske, with contract details still to be finalised.
