EUROSTAR will increase the number of trains operating in each direction between London and Amsterdam from three to four a day on September 9, to be followed by a further increase later this year.
On December 15, the day after the start of the 2026 timetable, a fifth train will be added in each direction. Tickets became available for purchase on July 10.
Eurostar says that the additional services have been made possible by the new terminal for cross-Channel passengers at Amsterdam Central. Replacing a smaller facility on platform 15, the new terminal beneath the tracks opened on February 10, under a phased commissioning programme that will increase the number of passengers that can be carried on each Eurostar train from 275 in 2024 to 650.
The high-speed operator reports that passenger traffic on the London - Amsterdam route is now up 18% compared with the same period last year, before the suspension of direct Amsterdam - London services as the old terminal was demolished and its replacement took shape.
Eurostar says that business travel continues to play a key role in the success of its London - Amsterdam route, accounting for 15% of total passenger traffic in 2024. From December 15, Eurostar will offer an 06.16 departure from London St Pancras arriving in Amsterdam at 11.20, and an 06.40 service from Amsterdam that arrives in London at 09.57.
London - Amsterdam is one the busiest air routes in Europe and offers substantial growth potential in the sustainable travel market, according to Eurostar. Carrying 4.3 million passengers to and from the Netherlands in 2024, it has identified this country as a strategic market.
“Since February, we’ve seen exceptional demand on our Amsterdam route, and the addition of a fifth daily service gives customers more choice and flexibility,” says Eurostar CEO, Gwendoline Cazenave.
