RAWIE, a manufacturer of buffer stops and access systems for pedestrians and vehicles, has commenced construction of a new plant and headquarters in the Niedersachsenpark near Osnabrück, northwest Germany. The company says the project marks a significant expansion of its activities and will help to strengthen its innovation capacity while supporting continued growth in markets around the world.
Rawie is investing €10m in the project. The new factory is located on a 1.8ha site alongside the A1 motorway. It will include 4800m2 of production space and 500m2 of modern office facilities.
Rawie says the site has been selected for its logistical location and potential for future development. It has sold its existing Osnabrück plant and plans to transfer production to the new facility by the end of the year.
“With this new facility, we are laying the foundation to further strengthen our innovative capabilities and secure our market position in the long term,” says managing director, Markus Gehle.
Founded over 130 years ago and best known for inventing the friction buffer stop, Rawie is now a global supplier of rail safety systems. In addition to buffer stops, its product range includes bespoke barrier and access systems for industrial and transport infrastructure.
The company possesses more than 50 patents and employs around 70 staff at its current Osnabrück base.
