Strong growth for PKP Intercity in half-year figures
PKP Intercity carried 22.8 million passengers in the first half of 2019, 1.3 million or 6% more than the same period last year, making it the Polish long-distance operator’s best first six months in a decade.

Netherlands Railways orders 18 ICNGB EMUs
NETHERLANDS Railways (NS) has activated an option for 18 eight-car Intercity New Generation (ICNG) 200 km/h EMUs in addition to the 79 ordered and under delivery from Alstom. The new order is worth €200m.

Gospel Oak - Barking line services fully electric
SERVICES over London Overground’s Gospel Oak - Barking line are now exclusively operated by four-car class 710 Aventra EMUs after the legacy two-car DMUs were phased out. One month free travel will be offered between August 31 and October 1 as compensation for the late delivery of the new fleet.

Mixed bag for Adif in half-yearly results
SPANISH infrastructure managers Adif and Adif High Speed (Adif AV) recorded a combined Ebitda of €130.43m in the first half of 2019, a 10% decrease compared with the same period last year caused by measures taken to improve services across the Spanish network.

PTC installation 90% complete in United States
SPEAKING at a hearing of the US Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Federal Railroad Administration chief, Mr Ronald Batory, said Positive Train Control (PTC) has been installed on 90% of required track.
