RegioJet begins double-deck operations in Slovakia
OPEN-access operator RegioJet began operating former DB Regio double-deck coaches on the Bratislava - Dunajská Streda - Komárno line on October 16, increasing capacity for the morning and evening peaks along the busiest single-track line in Slovakia.

Ottawa opens light rail Line 1
THE Canadian capital of Ottawa opened its second light rail line on September 14. Formerly known as the Confederation Line, the 12.5km Line 1 runs from Tunney’s Pasture east to Blair with an end-to-end journey time of around 24 minutes.

Trafikverket awards Varberg - Hamra track-doubling contract
SWEDISH infrastructure manager Trafikverket has awarded Implenia a SKr 3.5bn ($US 360m) contract to construct a new double-track line between Varberg and Hamra on Gothenburg - Lund West Coast Line, including the construction of a new 2.8km tunnel under the town of Varberg.
