Alstom wins another DB ETCS onboard contract
GERMAN Rail (DB) has selected Alstom to retrofit 19 ICE1 high-speed trains with ETCS onboard equipment. The contract is worth more than €10m and work is scheduled for completion in September 2021.

TRANSPORT Canada has imposed a speed restriction on freight trains carrying dangerous goods after a second unexplained derailment and rupture-caused explosive fire of a crude oil train in Guernsey, Saskatchewan, on February 6.

Storm force winds disrupt railways across Europe
RAIL services in Britain and Ireland were disrupted by storm force winds of up to 156km/h on February 9 and 10 as Storm Ciara, the worst in seven years, battered the two countries. The intense low-pressure system crossed the Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico and continued past the British Isles to northwestern Europe where German forecasters named it Storm Sabine.
