Wuhan Metro reopens as mainline and freight services resume
THE Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, resumed partial operation of its six-line metro network on March 28 while mainline and high-speed trains are also stopping at Wuchang station for the first time since the city was locked down on January 23.

Southeastern and Great Western franchisees secure direct award contract extensions
BRITAIN’s Department for Transport (DfT) has issued direct award contracts to Govia, a joint venture of Go Ahead (65%) and Keolis (35%), to continue to operate the Southeastern franchise, and FirstGroup to continue to operate the Great Western Railway franchise from April 1.

Hull Trains temporarily suspends all services
BRITISH open-access operator Hull Trains, which is owned by FirstGroup, temporarily suspended operation of its Beverley/Hull - London King’s Cross service on March 30, becoming the first British operator to cancel all trains in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
