Dawlish: Infrastructure manager Network Rail (NR) has competed the first 360m section of a new sea wall at Dawlish on the Exeter - Plymouth line, with work finished in time to allow the reopening of the beach and promenade for the peak tourism season.

First Caltrain Kiss double-deck EMU completed
STADLER has completed assembly of the first seven-car Kiss double-deck EMUs for Californian commuter rail operator Caltrain at its facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the train now undergoing tests at up to 32km/h on a 1km test track.

CAF revenue drops in half year results, resulting in €35m loss
SPANISH manufacturer CAF has recorded a 12% year-on-year decrease in revenue in the first half of 2020, down from €1.26bn in 2019 to €1.11bn. This resulted in a loss of €35m, down from a profit of €25m during the same period last year.

Thailand launches high-speed line feasibility study
STATE Railway of Thailand (SRT) has begun a feasibility study for the 190km Baht 101.7bn ($US 3.2bn) Rayong - Chanthaburi - Trat eastern Phase II section of its high-speed rail project. Work on the study is expected to be completed next month and will be submitted to the Thai cabinet next year.
