Rail freight industry leaders sign digital coupling MoU
MEMBERS of the European campaign group Rail Freight Forward (RFF), as well as seven industry associations, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expressing their support for the implementation of Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC) on all European freight trains by 2030.

Adelaide commuter network operation contract awarded
THE Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) for the state of South Australia has awarded a $A 2.1bn ($US 1.5bn) eight-year contract to Keolis Downer for the operation of the 130km Adelaide Metro commuter rail network from February 2021.

Egypt to build 543km Suez - Mediterranean line
An Egyptian/Chinese consortium has reportedly won a $US 9bn contract to construct a 543km, 250km/h railway from Ain Sokhna on the Gulf of Suez coast to the new Administrative Capital east of Cairo and El-Alamein on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast. The line will also pass through the cities of Sixth of October, Alexandria, and Burj al-Arab.
