Hyundai Rotem nets Cairo metro train contract
EGYPT’s National Authority for Tunnels has awarded Hyundai Rotem a Won 150.8bn ($US 130m) contract to supply 48 metro trains for Cairo Line 2.

Prorail reports better performance on Dutch network
DUTCH infrastructure manager Prorail says that punctuality on the network improved in 2018. More trains ran on time while the number of large disruptions to train services dropped by 11% from 627 to 558.

Six dead in Danish train accident - updated
SIX passengers on a Danish State Railways (DSB) Aarhus - Copenhagen inter-city train were killed in the early morning of January 2 when the train was hit by an object while crossing the Great Belt fixed link between Funen and Zealand at around 07.45.

Rio Tinto completes automation of Pilbara rail network
RIO Tinto announced on December 28 that it has successfully completed its $US 940m AutoHaul project to automate the operation of its 1700km heavy-haul rail network in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, which it says is now the “world’s largest robot and first automated heavy-haul, long-distance rail network.”
