South African president launches Cape Town X’Trapolis EMU tests
SOUTH Africa’s president Mr Cyril Ramaphosa visited Cape Town on April 9 to officially launch testing of Passenger Rail Authority of South Africa’s (Prasa) new Alstom X’trapolis Mega EMUs on the Metrorail Western Cape suburban network.

Cologne renews light rail and bus contract with KVB

Open-access London - Cardiff service proposed
GRAND Union Trains, which was set up in 2018 by Mr Ian Yeowart, has applied to Britain’s Office of Road and Rail (ORR) to operate an open-access passenger service between London Paddington and Cardiff in competition with franchisee Great Western Railway (GWR).

ATS to install SKF bearings on new two-piece bogie
ADVANCED Truck Systems (ATS) has reached an agreement with SKF to equip high-capacity wheel bearings and a condition monitoring system on its new two-piece fabricated steering bogie, with a goal of reducing on-track failures and enabling predictive maintenance.
