Budapest’s rail network is facing a congestion issue as greater numbers of commuters living in the city’s sprawling suburbs look to travel into the city centre each day. As Ferenc Joó explains, an ambitious plan to upgrade the network including redeveloping stations, building new tunnels and bridges crossing the Danube is aiming to untangle the city’s transport network.
