VTG has acquired the remaining shares of Retrack Slovakia from Rail Services Slovakia, becoming the sole owner of the traction service provider and its Hungarian and Czech subsidiaries.
Retrack Slovakia was founded by VTG after it acquired the majority of the shares of Slovak rail freight operator Carbo Rail in 2020, itself founded in 2016 following the merger of Carbosped and Rail Sped. VTG says it will fully integrate the business into its operations as it aims to improve its position in the Germany - Eastern Europe rail freight market.
VTG also confirmed that Milan Kortis and Jan Simco, the joint managing directors and founders ofRetrack Slovakia , will step down from their roles in the near future. Retrack Slovakia will then be jointly managed by Tobias Behncke, managing director of Retrack Germany, and Zoltan Potvorszki, head of the southeastern region at VTG.
"The acquisition of the remaining shares by VTG was part of a long-term plan pursued by the two founders and managing directors,” says Alberto Nobis, CEO of VTG. “We are excited to integrate Retrack Slovakia even more closely into our operations.”
