APPLICATIONS remain open for Michigan State University’s Railway Management Certificate Programme, which is aimed at individuals working in the railway industry who have the potential to become senior managers within their organisations.
The programme consists of four week-long residential modules, which cover both freight and passenger operations, and is designed to provide broad experience of the diversity and complexity of today’s north American railway industry.
The programme’s largest-ever cohort of 30 rail professionals completed the course in 2024, the 19th time it has been run. MSU’s railway education programme director, Valerii Kucherenko, is hoping for a similarly strong attendance for the 20th edition in 2025.
The course is structured as follows:
- Module 1: railway business administration, strategy and leadership: MSU Campus, East Lansing, Michigan
- Module 2: railway regulation, safety and the rail industry: Washington, DC, and Newark, New Jersey
- Module 3 - railway technology, research and development: Pueblo, Colorado, home of Transportation Technology Center operated by Ensco and MxV, and
- Module 4: railway operations: Chicago.
The fee per participant is $US 18,500, with a $US 500 reduction for registration and payment by February 28 2025. Discounts are available for groups of participants from the same company.
