TVER Carriage Works (TVZ), a subsidiary of Transmashholding (TMH), has secured a contract worth more than Roubles 400bn ($US 5.25bn) to supply locomotive-hauled passenger coaches to Federal Passenger Company (FPC), Russia’s long-distance passenger operator.
Under the agreement, FPC will receive more than 2700 coaches between 2026 and 2030. The order includes both single and double-deck vehicles. The contract also provides for the development and production of a new generation of double-deck rolling stock.
Production will take place at TVZ’s manufacturing plant in Tver, from where more than 480 coaches are scheduled for delivery in 2026 alone. In total, 449 coaches are expected to be supplied during the initial phase of the programme.
EMUs
In addition, TMH reports that it will deliver 15 EP2DM and EP3D ac EMUs totalling 110 cars manufactured at its Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant (DMZ) by November.
The air-conditioned trains have CCTV, passenger information systems, and a collision protection system. The trains have ergonomic seats fitted with USB ports for charging mobile devices, bicycle racks, special equipment for passengers with disabilities, and retractable steps facilitating entry from low station platforms.
The mix of four, six and eight-car trains will be delivered to Russian Railways (RZD) to operate on the Gorky, Far Eastern, Krasnoyarsk, Kuibyshev, October, and North Caucasus railways.
