Deliveries will continue at a rate of five trains per month, with the fleet due to enter service on December 15.

Assembly of the trains is taking place at Alstom’s Reichshoffen plant in the Grand-Est region of northeast France.

A €160m order for 17 trains was placed in June 2015 using an option from a framework contract awarded to Alstom by SNCF in 2009. The region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes exercised a €70m option for a further 10 trains for Léman Express last month.

Each 72m-long four-car EMU seats 204 passengers and the 140km/h sets are equipped to operate on 15kV ac, 25kV ac and 1.5kV dc electrification systems.

The 230km Léman Express network will be operated by a joint venture of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and French National Railways (SNCF).
