WABTEC has completed the acquisition of Dellner Couplers, a Sweden-based supplier of train connection systems, including couplers, dampers and gangways for trains.
Wabtec announced that it had entered a definitive agreement to acquire Dellner in March 2025 and said at the time that the deal was worth $US 960m in cash. The US group says the deal adds complementary technologies and supports its strategy for accelerated, profitable growth in mission-critical passenger rail systems.
Dellner Couplers has been active in the railway sector for 84 years. The company has an installed base of approximately 100,000 couplers and 12,500 gangways, and has production, assembly and aftermarket service facilities through 17 subsidiaries located in 13 countries, serving over 200 customers. Dellner Couplers employs 1200 people worldwide.
Rafael Santana, president and chief executive of Wabtec, says the acquisition marked a significant step in expanding the company’s transit business and broadening its offerings for passenger operators.
