BERLIN-based European private night train operator Nox Mobility has raised €2m in a pre-seed funding round. The injection of fresh capital will accelerate recruitment at the start-up, and fund construction of a full-scale interior mock-up and preparations to launch the first services in 2027.
Nox has told IRJ that the new funding will also be spent on refurbishing its initial rolling stock fleet and engineering and operational groundwork to prepare for the launch of overnight services, although it has not yet revealed which cities these will connect.
Nox has not disclosed a date for its first full seed funding round, though it suggests this might happen within the next 12 months.
“Night trains are one of Europe’s last big untapped mobility opportunities,” says Artur Hasselbach, co-founder of Nox Mobility. “The infrastructure already exists and the market is waiting. Raising this pre-seed round shows that investors believe in our approach to create a loveable product with a business model that works.”
