First Green Line LRVs enter service in Boston
MASSACHUSETTS Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) introduced the first of 24 LRVs into passenger service on the 36.4km Green Line in Boston on December 21. CAF is supplying the vehicles under a $US 118m contract.

Mur Valley Railway seeks new trains
STYRIAN Provincial Railway (StLB) has launched a market research initiative with a view to purchasing new rolling stock for the 760mm-gauge Mur Valley Railway, which runs for 65km between Unzmarkt and Tamsweg in central Austria.

Hyundai Rotem delivers first Ahmedabad metro train
THE first of 32 three-car trains, which Hyundai Rotem is building for the new two-line Ahmedabad metro, arrived in the Indian port of Mundra on December 29. The second train should arrive in late March or early April.

THE first locally-assembled Alstom X’Trapolis Mega suburban EMU for Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) left the Gibela plant at Dunnottar in Gauteng on December 7 bound for the operator’s depot at Woolmerton north of Pretoria.
