SNCF reports strong high-speed growth
FRENCH National Railways (SNCF) says that traffic on its high-speed services grew by 14% between January and April this year compared with the same period in 2018 when SNCF was suffering from strikes. The growth equates to additional 4.5 million travellers.

SZ orders 26 more Stadler multiple units
SLOVENIAN Railways (SZ) has awarded Stadler a contract worth more than €150m to supply 26 Flirt multiple units, exercising an option from a framework contract for Flirt and double-deck Kiss EMU sets awarded in April 2018.

Shenyang opens third metro line
TRIAL operation on Line 9 of the Shenyang Metro started on May 25. The 29km L-shaped line runs from Nujianggongyuan south to Hunhe and then east to Shenyang Jianzhudaxu University.

Sydney opens Australia’s first metro line
THE $A 8.3bn ($US 5.7bn) first stage of the Sydney Metro Northwest metro line between Tallawong and Chatswood opened on May 26, with around 140,000 people experiencing free travel for the day on the new service.
