Alberta looks to dump multi-billion-dollar oil trains
OIL trains funded by the Canadian province of Alberta were supposed to start transporting Alberta’s glut of bitumen to foreign markets on July 1 under a $US 2.8bn contract committing provincial taxpayers to leasing 4400 tank wagons and guaranteed payments to Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Railway (CP).
