Taiwan proposes high-speed extension
PROPOSALS to extend the 349km Taipei - Kaohsiung high-speed line from its southern terminus across the Gaoping River to serve Pingtung County were unveiled by Taiwan’s premier, Mr Su Tseng-chang, on September 10.

PLANS to upgrade the Molzau - Graben-Neudorf - Karlsruhe line in Baden-Württemberg have been extended, with German Rail (DB) now investigating other potential enhancements to the Mannheim - Karlsruhe corridor as part of the project.

First electric test run between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem
ISRAEL Railways (IR) operated an electric locomotive in Tel Aviv for the first time on September 6, when a Bombardier Traxx unit completed a test run between Tel Aviv Hahagana and Jerusalem Navon stations on the A1 link, the country’s first electrified line.

Transmashholding displays RA-3 DMU at Shcherbinka
TRANSMASHHOLDING (TMH) displayed the new RA-3 DMU at the Pro.Motion.Expo in Shcherbinka, Russia, at the end of August. The prototype was completed in February, and has recently received regulatory approval.

Norway announces details of Traffic Package 4 tender
