Île-de-France to accelerate competitive tendering in Paris

Strong growth for Leo Express in 2019
PRAGUE-based open-access operator Leo Express carried more than 2.4 million passengers in 2019, up 33% from 1.8 million in 2018, with turnover increasing 25% to more than Koruna 1bn ($US 43.7m), up from Koruna 800m in 2018.

GERMAN Rail (DB) presented the first of 17 refurbished former Westbahn Stadler Kiss double-deck EMUs at Berlin Main Station on February 6 ahead of the introduction of nine trains on the Rostock - Berlin - Dresden inter-city route on March 8.

Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link rail consultancy contract awarded
DANISH planning company Femern has appointed SNC Lavalin subsidiary Atkins to provide consultancy services for the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link railway that will run through the 18km Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Denmark and Germany. The contract will run for eight years, and includes an option for an extension.

Final sleeper laid in Bözberg tunnel
THE project to introduce a 4-metre freight corridor between northern European ports and the Mediterranean, which is due to come on line at the end of the year, witnessed a major milestone on the Swiss section on February 6 with the laying of the final sleeper in the new 2.7km Bözberg tunnel.

LTA awards Hyundai Rotem Jurong Region Line fleet contract
SINGAPORE’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded Hyundai Rotem a $S 416.5m ($US 300.9m) contract to supply 62 three-car driverless metro trains for the Jurong Region Line.
