Lithuania awards design contract for Kaunas railway node
THE Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications and national infrastructure manager LTG Infra have awarded a €1.1m contract to Spanish engineering firm Ardanuy Ingenieria to prepare development plans for the Kaunas railway node as part of the Rail Baltica project.

GOVIA Thameslink Railway (GTR) and leasing company Porterbrook have announced a five-year, £55m programme to modernise the Southern, Gatwick Express and Great Northern ‘Electrostar’ fleets, a total of 270 trains.

Alstom expects to acquire Bombardier Transportation for less than envisaged
ALSTOM has signed a sale and purchase agreement with Bombardier and Caisse de dépot et placement du Québec (CDPQ) for the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation for between €5.5bn and €5.9bn, and now says this could drop to €5.3bn.
