Hitachi and Eversholt Rail to trial battery-equipped class 802
HITACHI Rail and British rolling stock leasing company Eversholt Rail have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a battery pack that can be installed on a five-car class 802 inter-city train operated by Great Western Railway (GWR) on the 480km journey between London and Penzance in the southwest of England.

CHINA’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has published plans to start construction of 10,000km of new inter-city and urban rail lines in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay areas in the next five years.

Stadler delivers first Norwegian bi-mode Flirt

Melbourne Metro Tunnel cost rises by $A 2.7bn
THE cost of Melbourne’s 9km Metro Tunnel project has increased by $A 2.7bn ($US 2.04bn) following an agreement reached by the state of Victoria and the contractor following a near year-long stand-off. The total cost of the project, which will add five new stations in the central business district and create a new cross-city line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, is now nearly $A 14bn.
