MTR proposes phased opening of Tuen Ma Line, outlines options for Shatin - Central Link
A feasibility study by MTR Corporation has found a phased opening of Hong Kong’s Tuen Ma Line (TML), which would see three new stations at Hin Keng, Diamond Hill and Kai Tak open in the first quarter of 2020, is a viable option.

Manila North-South rolling stock contract signed
THE Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) signed a $US 230m contract with a joint venture of Sumitomo Corporation and Japan Transport Engineering Company (J-Trec) on July 16 for a fleet of 13 eight-car EMUs for the Manila North - South Commuter Railway (PNR Clark Phase 1).

Nanjing Metro awards train control contract
NANJING Metro has signed a contract with Alstom to provide traction systems and the train control and monitoring system (TCMS) for 318 metro cars that will operate on Nanjing Line 7, the first driverless metro line in the city.

Hyundai Rotem develops heat-resistant traction motor
KOREAN manufacturer Hyundai Rotem has developed a class 220 insulated heat-resistant electric traction motor, which it says performs normal insulation functions in high temperature environments of up to 220oC, a first for Korea.
