MTA orders 25 hybrid locomotives from Wabtec
NEW York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has awarded a $US 233m contract to Wabtec for 25 MotivePower R255 hybrid battery-diesel locomotives for use on NYC Transit (NYCT) work trains, with an option for up to 45 additional units.

German coalition recommends reopening 4000km of lines
A coalition of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) and Allianz pro Schiene have proposed reopening up to 238 disused or freight-only lines to passenger services, totalling a potential 4016km of infrastructure.
