Auckland City Rail Link major works contract signed
AUCKLAND City Rail Link (CRL) developer City Rail Link Ltd has signed a project alliance agreement (PAA) with the Link Alliance, enabling work to begin on two new underground stations, upgrading the existing Mt Eden station, and completing tunnel construction.

Manila North-South rolling stock contract signed
THE Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) signed a $US 230m contract with a joint venture of Sumitomo Corporation and Japan Transport Engineering Company (J-Trec) on July 16 for a fleet of 13 eight-car EMUs for the Manila North - South Commuter Railway (PNR Clark Phase 1).

Southern Finland passenger rail tender suspended
FINLAND’s minister of transport and communications, Mrs Sanna Marin, announced on June 27 that the government has suspended plans to competitively tender operation of suburban and regional services in the south of the country currently operated by VR Group.
