CAF pulls out of DSB coach tender

German Court of Auditors proposes radical DB reform
GERMANY’s Federal Court of Auditors presented a report to the German parliament on January 17 which calls for the federal government to define German Rail’s (DB) future role, including possibly splitting train operations from infrastructure management and selling its two largest subsidiaries, Arriva and Schenker.

Study to plan reopening of Berlin-Wilhelmsruh - Basdorf line
THE German states of Berlin and Brandenburg, along with regional transport authority VBB and train operator and infrastructure manager Niederbarnimer Railway (NEB), have agreed to re-open the line from Berlin-Wilhelmsruh north to Schönwalde and Basdorf to passenger trains by December 2023.

Belarus Railways orders more Stadler Flirt EMUs
BELARUS Railways (BC) and Stadler signed a contract on January 17 for the delivery of 10 Flirt EMUs for inter-regional services, with the first trains due to be put into operation from 2020.
