BaltTransService receives new locomotives from TMH
THE first of 10 2TE25KM double-unit diesel locomotives built by Transmashholding (TMH) subsidiary Bryansk Locomotive Works for Russian rail freight operator BaltTransService was officially handed over at a ceremony in Velikiye Luki in Pskov Oblast on June 25.

New Saarland EMU fleet delayed
THE Ministry of Transport in the German region of Saarland together with Bombardier and train operator Vlexx announced on June 19 that a new fleet of Talent 3 EMUs ordered for the Saar Electric Network will not be fully-available in time for the start of the 2020 timetable in December.

Network Rail publishes digital signalling plan
BRITAIN’s infrastructure manager Network Rail (NR) has published a long-term plan for the deployment of ETCS. The plan is a response to a request last year by the Department for Transport that future signalling renewals should be digital, or at least digital-ready beyond NR’s 2019-2026 Control Period 6 (CP6) investment plan.

SNCF aims for zero emissions by 2035
FRENCH National Railways (SNCF) has announced a plan to eliminate emissions - both greenhouse gases and particulates - by 2035 as part of its contribution to achieving France’s zero net emissions target in 2050. This is despite a 20% forecast increase in passenger and freight traffic in France by 2050.
