Shift2Rail selects 17 projects from 2019 call for proposals
THE European Union’s Shift2Rail (S2R) joint undertaking (JU) has selected 17 projects worth €148.6m under the 2019 Call for Proposals for Research & Innovation Activities. S2R will co-fund up to €74.8m of the project costs.

£3.5bn Midlands Engine Rail programme unveiled
MIDLANDS Connect has unveiled the Midlands Engine Rail programme, a £3.5bn blueprint to improve rail connectivity in central Britain consisting of seven projects, including the £2.02bn Midlands Rail Hub announced in June.

AZVI and Rail.One have signed a joint agreement to deliver a ballestless track system for the 6.9km single-track Arna - Fløen tunnel in Bergen, Norway, the first ballestless track in the country.

Lineas to double intermodal capacity during Antwerp ring road closure
BELGIAN freight operator Lineas has announced plans to double the capacity of intermodal services in and out of Antwerp, which it says will reduce congestion during the Oosterweel Link works to complete the R1 ring road around the city.
