Camrail signs MoU to increase freight capacity on Douala line
CAMEROON’s infrastructure manager Camrail has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australian mining company Canyon Resources to increase capacity between Canyon’s mine in Minim, Martap, to the Atlantic port of Douala, on the approximate 800km Ngaoundere - Douala line.

Thailand awards contract for standard-gauge project
STATE Railway of Thailand (SRT) has awarded a Baht 50.6bn ($US 1.7bn) contract for the Bangkok - Nakhon Ratchasima 1435mm-gauge rail project to a partnership of China Railway Group (CREC) and the China Railway Design Corporation (CRDC).

Korail awards signalling contract to Hyundai Rotem
KOREAN national operator Korail has awarded a Won 9.6bn ($US 8.7m) contract to Hyundai Rotem to install Korea Train Control System (KTCS-M) signalling for a pilot project on a 6.6km section of Seoul Metro’s Ilsan Line, which is part of Line 3.

THE Australian federal government and state government of Victoria have finalised the route for the planned Melbourne airport rail link, effectively rejecting a proposal from a private consortium to construct a $A 5bn ($US 3.69bn) 6km dedicated tunnel between the city and West Footscray.
