Senior DB management shake-up as Arriva sale postponed
JUST days after the appointment of new members to German Rail’s (DB) management board, the company’s chief financial officer, Mr Alexander Doll, is set to leave the company on December 31. DB’s failure to sell its Arriva subsidiary and tensions between directors and government ministers are being blamed by local media for Doll’s departure.

Eurostar looks ahead to new services during ‘plastic free’ 25th anniversary celebration
EUROSTAR managing director Mr Mike Cooper says that plans to develop the Green Speed merger with Thalys are “progressing” with the final decision from shareholders expected in April 2020. If approved, Cooper says the objective is to implement the merger by 2021 after necessary regulatory and EU merger control approvals are secured.

German government to block Vossloh Locomotives sale?
THE planned sale of the Vossloh Locomotives subsidiary to Chinese rail engineering conglomerate CRRC may be blocked by the German government. Local media reports suggest the government is planning to veto the purchase using laws that regulate foreign trade and investment.

Work to resume on Rastatt Tunnel
GERMAN infrastructure manager DB Networks has announced that construction work to complete the rail tunnels under the town of Rastatt will recommence in 2020. The tunnels are now due to open in 2025, three years later than originally planned.

Passenger trains return to Bragado
ARGENTINA’s national operator Argentinean Trains (TA) has re-launched passenger services along the 208km line between Buenos Aires and Bragado four years after they were suspended following serious weather damage to several bridges and track at the western end of the route in August 2015.
