Argentinean Trains restores long-distance Pinamar connection
ARGENTINA’s national operator Argentinean Trains (TA) has re-launched regional passenger services on the 100km line from General Guido junction station on the Buenos Aires - Mar del Plata mainline to the Atlantic coast resort town of Pinamar, a decade after they were withdrawn.

Buenos Aires Subte concession awarded
THE Buenos Aires regional government has awarded incumbent Metrovías a new 12-year contract effective 90 days after the announcement to operate the city’s Subte metro system. The award follows a long running tender exercise that initially saw significant international interest. An optional three-year extension is also included.

Electrification agreed as first step to new German tram-train network
THE Baden-Württemberg transport ministry has approved funding for 15kV ac electrification of the 10.4km Erms Valley Railway between Metzingen and Bad Urach, plus the electrification and expansion, with some new double track sections, of the 21.4km Ammer Valley Railway between Tübingen and Herrenberg.

German regional line electrification approved
DB Networks and the state of Hessen have agreed a planning contract for the modernisation and electrification of the 31km Nidder Valley Railway between Glauburg-Stockheim and Bad Vilbel.
