He previously worked as a reporter with the Taranaki Daily News and Stuff in New Zealand, where he covered a range of topics including local government, court, politics and education, before taking up a role as online editor at the Evening Telegraph in Dundee, Scotland. He studied journalism and photography at the Western Institute of Technology in Taranaki.
