NORWEGIAN track authority, Jernbaneverket, has selected Ramboll to conduct a feasibility study of a proposed high-speed line between Trondheim and Oslo.

RIDERSHIP on Britain's passenger network increased by 6.9% in 2010 with 1.32 billion journeys made, according to figures released today by the Association of Train Operating Companies (Atoc). The figures show that the railways carried more passengers than at any peacetime year since the 1920s with a record 33.3 billion miles travelled by train. Ridership was also up by 37% compared with 2000.

RAIL traffic is recovering in most parts of the world following the recession and financial crisis of late 2008 and 2009, and the outlook for the rest of this decade is particularly encouraging with growth forecast in all sectors.

BERN-Solothurn Regional Traffic (RBS), Switzerland, has exercised an option for eight NExT emus worth SFr 64 million ($US 66.4 million) with Stadler.
